Stronghold review

Stronghold is real-time medieval strategy game. In campaing mode the king has been captured, many high generals killed by the new tyrants, that rule these lands. Sir Longarm and lord Woolsack allows you to command small units, and you get first missions as rampart builder and food producer in abandoned lands that are ruled by wolves.

Here is a quick video of stronghold review:

In later game you get discovered by the tyrants, and must face them with the help of sir Longarm. For food you can grow wheat and bake bread, grow apples, build dairy farms, or hunt deers. When you have enough food you can set higher food rations and increase taxes, or sell goods in market to earn gold.

You must produce or buy required weapons to train troops, there are no mercenaries that only cost some gold, this makes stronghold very interesting in multiplayer because you have to build strong economy first.

Stronghold has a very balanced economy and a realistic military tactics (e.g like in a real life, spearmen are strong against cavalry but weak against macemen, but cavalry is strong against macemen) so in multiplayer mode you have to choose very carefully what type of troops you will use.

Also, use nature to your advantage, archers on hills are stronger than archers on the ground.

I will not talk more about campaing, but note that it’s 100% worth playing, when you are finished with campaing you are welcome to play in multiplayer mode, just look around this website, read Alpha rules, watch videos, and you are ready.
